Sister Noh's Stuff
We are BACK!
We had a WONDERFUL time. The only problem was, it takes much more time than we had to get things done. Then again, are we really ever DONE with things that we enjoy????
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with the kids, and seeing things. I learned a lot of things in the process.
Niagara Falls was way cool. We saw it first at night, when it was lit up. We learned later that 50 % of the water is taken off above the falls. Then at night, when you cannot see as well, another 25% is taken. This water is taken underground to a dam that produces mass amounts of electricity.
The next day we saw the falls in daylight and took the boat “The Maid of the Mists” We all got good and wet even though we were wearing lovely blue ponchos provided at the boat. It was inspiring. Up close to the falls, you could FEEL the power of the water. WOW !!!
The Sacred grove was truly impressive. It is so much more than just a bunch of trees. It was so quiet and beautiful. The spirit was STRONG! We took the time to sit and pray or ponder and I was very impressed by the kids reverence.
The Cumorah Pageant was so cool. The special effects were something else. Water falls, volcanoes, you name it, they had it on that stage. And so life like. Some say that the Nauvoo Pageant is better. I can’t say which I liked better. They are so different. I liked both. The history really comes alive.
Even the hecklers on the outskirts were interesting. I don’t think I have ever experienced hecklers before. I really don’t understand the drive, or should I say passion that is behind these people. What could it be that would make someone stand outside of anothers’ event and using a bull horn, shout at them??? I just don’t understand.
Through a wonderful happening, we were invited to stay at the old “Tomlinson Inn”. It used to be rented out, but is now owned by a friend of our daughter-in-law, Billie. He told us that we could stay there and we enjoyed three nights.
It was a beautiful old place. It is the historical site of where Samuel Smith gave a Book of Mormon to Phineas Young. Phineas gave it to his sister, who passed it on to her Brother, Brigham, and as they say, the rest is history.
Tour busses stopped by to show where this happened. They saw people inside and wanted to take a tour inside, but we didn’t have permission to do that. It was pretty cool to stay there. It had some real character. One room, off of one of the bedrooms, went from one level, down two steps and connected the old original house to the part added on. Both were real old, but you could see the difference.
More, next week. Shirley

Jerry's words of wisdom.
We left Tacoma on Thursday morning, July the 6th at 7:00 AM. We arrived in Buffalo, NY at about 6:30 PM. There was a 3 hour time change. We made a stop and plane change in Atlanta, GA. We waited in the airport for Scott and Billie and family to arrive. We then rented two cars and went to the hotel. After unpacking, we went to see the lights at Niagara Falls, it was great.
The next morning, we went back to the Niagara area and played tourist for 8 hours, See the pictures. Then back to the hotel, everyone was tired.
The next day we left Buffalo and headed for Palmyra. In Palmyra we did the tourist thing again. We were there for three days and saw lots of things, see pictures.
We then left Palmyra and headed for Boston. I' talk about Boston next week.
We arrived back to the mission, where we found a lot of work to do. I think it will take about two to three weeks to get caught up. It was fun. A good thing about being gone we missed the hot spell in western Washington. Yeah!
Love,
Elder Noh
