Our Second Week

We are about as trained as we are going to get. Almost every day something new is added to our list of things to do. Shirley is doing the reception job + referrals + logging baptisms and confirmations, our mission gets about 100 per month.

Jerry is doing the housing, bikes and cellphones + now doing some of the car work. Calls have to be made to the parents of new missionaries, about to arrive, to find out where their son's bike is. Jerry puts them together when they arrive.

This week Jerry helped moved cars to the body shop, detailed and mechanic. We are getting them ready to sale. The Church only keeps them for three years. Then they clean them up and sell them. The cars will have about 35,000 to 40,000 miles on them and are sold for 1-2,000 dollars below retail blue-book. It is really a good deal.
August 4 a new batch of missionaries arrive. They will meet with the mission president and have lunch. They attend orientation where they are given the mission handbook, instructed on the rules and regulations of the mission. Jerry will conduct two sessions, one about keeping your room or apartment clean and one about bicycles and cellphones. We also get to be the ones to fix the lunches.

The same day is transfer day. Companionships are changed and the new arrivals are assigned to a companionship, called area. After all of this is done, the missionaries will go to their areas and we will go back to the office. It will be a busy day. Exciting, huh!!!

On Tuesday night we went to Paul and Lucy's house in Puyallop for dinner. Lucy made some homemade pizza. It was really good. We had a good visit and returned home at about 9:00 P.M.
Right on time to NOT be late, past the time we are supposed to be home.

Well, we will try to have some pictures for next week. We miss all of our family and friends, but are really excited about the things we are doing in the mission. We like all that we serve with, especially the young men and women we get to meet. It is also fun to go places wearing our missionary badges and see the reactions from people that we meet. Most of the time it is really favorable. The rest of the time we are just ignored.
